HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER PIZZAS

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F.
  2. Cut the baguette.
  3. Top with pizza sauce, cheese, and other desired toppings.
  4. Cook the pizzas in batches.

1. PREHEAT THE AIR FRYER

The first thing you want to do is preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Allow the machine to run for about 5 to 10 minutes so it can reach the correct temperature before your pizzas go into the air fryer basket.

The same principles apply to a preheated air fryer as they do to a preheated oven! You need your air fryer to be at the correct temperature so that your cook time remains accurate. While your air fryer is preheating is a great time to knock out both the prep work and the assembly for your Air Fryer Pizzas.

2. PREPARE THE BAGUETTE

The ingredient list begins with a baguette. Baguettes are thin and extraordinarily crunchy, and they are the perfect vessel for a quick-fix dinner like personal-sized French bread pizzas!

A baguette cut into four equal portions.

Cut the baguette into four equal portions, then turn each portion on its side, and slice it lengthwise. Cutting the baguette this way yields the perfect size for a personal size pizza! Although, depending on how hungry you are, you might want to count on eating two! They are pretty delicious after all.

After you have the baguette cut into eight equal portions, you'll want to take the time to hollow out the bread. To do this, pull small pinches of bread away from the center of the baguette portions.

Hollowing out the bread helps to create a crevice for the cheese and the toppings to stay put. Ultimately, keeping all of your Air Fryer Pizza toppings in place rather than spilling out into the air fryer!

If you are worried about cheese spilling out through the perforated holes of your air fryer basket, you can line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. However, you should know, this might prohibit your pizza crust from getting as crunchy as you'd like it to be!

4. ADD SAUCE, CHEESE, AND OTHER TOPPINGS

Once your bread is hollowed out, you'll spoon a thin layer of pizza or marinara sauce across the top of each bread slice. You can use a homemade marinara or good quality, store-bought pizza/marinara sauce.

One ingredient you absolutely want to make sure is as fresh as it gets for your Air Fryer Pizzas is the cheese! Freshly grated cheese is such a difference-maker when it comes to literally any recipe! But, especially pizza!

A hand holding a bowl of freshly grated mozzarella cheese.

Get yourself a block of mozzarella cheese and grate it. Both the texture and the flavor of freshly grated mozzarella cheese is far superior to the mozzarella cheese you would find prepackaged in a bag.

Add about a quarter cup of mozzarella to the top of your pizza, and send it off to the air fryer as it is, or bring on the toppings! We'll talk more about those topping options below!

Sliced baguettes have it open with marinara sauce and cheese on top.

5. COOK AIR FRYER PIZZAS IN BATCHES

Regardless of whether or not you're sending off cheese pizzas or supreme pizzas to the air fryer, the cook time will be the same. Place no more than two pizzas into the basket of the air fryer at a time, and cook for 4 to 5 minutes.

You'll know your Air Fryer Pizzas are ready for eating once the cheese is looking hot and bubbly and the crusty edges have taken on a golden-brown coloring!

TOPPING IDEAS FOR AIR FRYER PIZZAS

Pizza toppings such as diced green bell peppers, pepperoni, cooked hamburger, shredded cheese, pizza sauce, mushrooms, and black olives all spread out on a white surface.

Here is a fun list of toppings you might want to consider for your Air Fryer Pizzas!

  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
  • Pepperoni
  • Cooked Hamburger Meat
  • Cooked Italian Sausage
  • Diced Pineapple
  • Sliced Mushrooms
  • Black Olives
  • Diced Green Bell Pepper
  • Diced Ham
  • Diced Onion
  • Fresh Sliced Tomatoes
  • Fresh Sprigs of Basil

HOW TO FREEZE AND REHEAT AIR FRYER PIZZAS

If you end up with leftover Air Fryer Pizzas, freeze them! To freeze your pizzas, allow them to cool completely and wrap individually in wax paper. Then, place them in a gallon-sized, freezer-safe Ziploc bag. Remove all of the excess air, seal, and freeze for up to two months.

You can reheat your air fryer pizzas in the exact same way you cooked them in the first place!

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F and place them in the basket no more than two at a time. Cook for about 6 to 8 minutes, and note the cook time will take a little longer since the pizzas are going into the air fryer frozen!
