An easy and quick homemade marinara sauce, perfect for topping spaghetti and chicken parmesan.

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large can 28 ounces fire-roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
Instructions
  1. Add olive oil to a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and saute 2-3 minutes, add the garlic and sauté 1 minute more.

  2. Add in the tomatoes, sugar, pepper and red pepper flakes and stir to combine. Allow to rapidly simmer for 15 minutes, uncovered, stirring often.
