Ingredients
1tablespoon cornstarch
1 ⅓ cuplight brown sugar, lightly packed
1tablespoon + ½ teaspoonground cinnamon
½teaspoonKosher salt
Juice of 2 lemons (optional)
6apples (such as Honey Crisp, Pink Lady, or Granny Smith), peeled and cut into slices ¼" thick
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375° and have ready a 9x13" baking dish, and aluminum foil.
In a large mixing bowl, add cornstarch along with 2 tablespoons of cold water. Stir to combine. Add an additional ⅔ cup of water, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and lemon juice. Add the apples and stir until evenly coated.
Transfer the apple and sugar mixture to the casserole dish, and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the aluminum foil, stir and bake for 15 minutes more, uncovered.
