Ingredients
1 cuplong-grain white rice, uncooked
1cupunsalted or low-sodium chicken broth
1cupwhole milk
½teaspoonKosher salt
¾teaspoonpaprika
½teaspoongarlic powder
¼teaspoononion powder
¼teaspoonblack pepper
¾cupblock-style American cheese, freshly grated
Instructions
Place the rice in a colander and rinse under cool, running water until the water runs clear.
Transfer the rice to a small saucepan (one that has a lid) and add chicken broth, milk, and all of the spices. Stir to combine.
Place over medium-high heat and allow to come to a simmer. Fit the lid on the saucepan and reduce heat as necessary to maintain a gentle simmer (small, delicate bubbles repetitively rising to the surface).
Gently simmer for about 20 minutes; try not to disturb the lid so the rice maintains a constant level of steam. After the time is up, check for doneness. Once done, remove the rice from the heat (with the lid on) and set aside for 10 minutes.
Gently fluff the rice with a fork, add the cheese, and mix until creamy. Serve and enjoy!
