1small green bell pepperseeds removed and finely diced
1small yellow onionfinely diced

3cups24 ounces low-sodium tomato sauce
2tablespoongranulated sugar
2 ½teaspoonsKosher salt

Instructions
Add olive oil to a large saucepan over medium heat and allow to come to temperature. Add the bell pepper and onion, and sauté for 5-7 minutes or until softened. Add the garlic and sauté 1 minute more.
Add the tomato sauce, sugar, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes to the saucepan and stir to combine. Reduce the heat to maintain a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring often. Remove from the heat and set aside until ready to use.
