Ingredients
For the Strawberry Simple Syrup:
1(16-ounce) packagestrawberries, stems removed and halved(you should have about 2 cups)
2cupswater
1cupgranulated sugar
¼teaspoonsalt
1cupfreshly squeezed lime juice
For the Strawberry Margaritas:
1 ½ouncetequila
½ounce orange liqueur
5ounces strawberry simple syrup
Lime wedges for garnish, if desired
Instructions
To Make the Strawberry Simple Syrup:
Add the strawberries, water, granulated sugar, and salt to a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally and allow the water to come to a boil.
As soon as the sugar dissolved, remove it from the heat and allow it to steep, about 1 to 1 ½ hours.
Place a fine-mesh sieve over a large bowl or measuring pitcher and strain the strawberries. Discard the berries or save them for another use.
Stir in the lime juice (if using), transfer to a storage container, and refrigerate until ready to use.
To Make the Strawberry Margarita:
Add the tequila, orange liqueur, and strawberry syrup to a measuring pitcher or a shaker and stir.
Have ready a rocks glass filled with ice and pour the mix on top. Serve with a lime wedge and enjoy!
Notes
Simple syrup makes about 3 ½ cups (enough for 6 margaritas).
