An easy, Southern Creamed Corn with Cream Cheese made fast on the stovetop with milk, and fresh or frozen corn. The perfect potluck side dish for family gatherings, holidays, and BBQ's!

Other popular corn side dishes you might like include Corn Soufflé and Cream Corn Casserole!

A light blue bowl of cream corn with a creamy cream corn sauce.

Creamed Corn with Cream Cheese is a classic Southern side dish that pairs well with just about any meal on any occasion. Both the grown-ups and the kids love this sweet and savory dish. It's made up of sweet yellow corn kernels smothered in a creamy, velvety sauce comprised of cream cheese, butter, and milk.

This recipe is shockingly easy, and far exceeds anything you could ever find in a can. In fact, chances are, you’ll find this Creamed Corn recipe far superior to any restaurant rendition as well!

CREAMED CORN WITH CREAM CHEESE INGREDIENTS

To make life easier on yourself when preparing creamed corn, start with frozen or canned corn. You could also use fresh corn if you're into overachieving.

Next comes the cream cheese. Cream cheese not only gives your creamed corn sauce that luscious, creamy texture, it also keeps your milk from curdling. Necessity. Next on the list is butter and milk.

All you need as far as seasoning goes for your Creamed Corn is a little sugar, salt, and pepper. So just to recap...

  • Canned or Frozen Corn
  • Cream Cheese
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Sugar
  • Salt and Pepper

It's a simple recipe that doesn't require much but delivers in a very big way when it comes to both flavor and texture. You have seriously never had Creamed Corn this good.

HOW TO MAKE EASY CREAMED CORN WITH CREAM CHEESE

  1. Melt the butter and cream cheese together.
  2. Add the milk, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  3. Add the corn and simmer.
  4. Transfer half of mixture to blender or food processor and pulse.
  5. Return to saucepan, stir and serve!

Creamed corn with cream cheese begins on the stovetop with a sauce made from butter, cream cheese, and milk. To season the creamy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper are added, then in go the corn kernels.

The mixture bubbles away at a low simmer until slightly thickened. About half of the mixture goes into a food processor or blender and is pulsed just a few times to break down the kernels. We are not looking to make a puree here, so easy on those buttons, peeps. The broken down kernels go back into the saucepan, it's mixed together, and you're ready to eat the best-creamed corn ever.

If this is your kind of recipe, try our cream corn soup next!

STORING YOUR CREAMED CORN

Homemade Creamed Corn with Cream Cheese will stay good in your refrigerator for up to 4 days. You can easily make this dish ahead if needed, and take comfort in knowing it reheats beautifully.

However, do not attempt to freeze Creamed Corn. While corn itself freezes fine, the sauce may not. It consists mostly of dairy, and items containing a fair amount of dairy will often separate if frozen and then reheated.

The focus is a spoonful of creamed corn with a bowl of corn in the background.

It's an easy homemade creamed corn with cream cheese that most definitely beats the pants off the canned stuff and rivals even the best BBQ joint renditions. Serve as a spruced-up side to any comfort food dinner, family holiday, or prepare a batch for your next BBQ and watch your guests swoon!

IN CASE YOU WERE WONDERING...

Creamed Corn with Cream Cheese is gluten-free. The corn itself may have some nutritional value, but the dish overall is not necessarily a “diet-friendly” dish. I mean, we are talking about a sauce consisting mostly of cream cheese and butter here, guys. It's kind of why we love it so much. This dish is meant to be decadent and creamy, and everything a Southern side dish should be.
