Dill Dip is a classic party dip everyone loves. It's fresh, tangy and full of flavor thanks to the simple additions of spices and herbs. Whether you're hosting a cocktail party, a Super Bowl bash or a small gathering of friends, this simple and delicious dip is sure to be loved by all!

This is the all-time best Dill Dip recipe, and it comes together in just 5 minutes. Whether you serve it on a vegetable platter or alongside potato chips, you can rest assured -- the crowd will be sending droves of compliments your way.

WHAT'S IN DILL DIP?

This Dill Dip comes together easily with just a few ingredients. The base of the dip consists mostly of sour cream and just a little bit of mayonnaise for extra creaminess.

Fresh ingredients can make a big difference in a dip recipe, but if time is seriously of the essence, you can easily use the provided substitutions or omit them altogether for even faster assembly!

  • Sour Cream
  • Mayonnaise
  • Shallot (Onion Powder option included)
  • Italian Parsley (optional)
  • Dried Dill Weed
  • Garlic Powder
  • Salt and Pepper

HOW TO MAKE DILL DIP

This party dip is insanely quick to make and it should take you no more than a whopping five minutes to assemble. Now that's my kind of party dip! If you're not using fresh ingredients for this Dill Dip, simply omit the mincing and go straight to the mixing!

QUICK RECIPE OVERVIEW

  1. Mince shallot and parsley (if using).
  2. Add ingredients to a bowl and stir to combine.

Annnnnnnd...you're done. Almost hard to believe, right? But, really and truly, that's all there is to making a stellar Dill Dip at home!

WHAT TO SERVE WITH DILL DIP

Dill Dip pairs with so many wonderful things, you might have a hard time picking just one. I personally like to serve this Dill Dip in a bowl on top of a platter surrounded by colorful vegetables and a bowl of chips on the side.

Here is a complete list of Dill Dip accoutrements:

  • Carrot Chips or Sticks
  • Celery Sticks
  • Sliced Cucumbers
  • Grape Tomatoes
  • Radishes
  • Broccoli Florets
  • Potato Chips or Kettle Cooked Chips
  • Rye or Sourdough Toast Points

WANT TO GET FANCY?

If you want to get fancy with your Dill Dip, serve it out of a bread bowl!  To make a bread bowl for Dill Dip, simply slice off the top portion of a round sourdough loaf. Then, carefully reach in and pull out chunks of bread from inside the loaf until it is hollow. Now you have a bread bowl!

Note, you'll likely need to double your Dill Dip Recipe to fill a bread bowl.

SERVING AND STORING DILL DIP

If going by FDA guidelines, then your Dill Dip should not sit out at room temperature for more than two hours and should be discarded precisely after the 120-minute mark. However, I will say this -- I left mine out for the entire duration of a party, and we all managed to survive.

On the flip side, if you keep your home insanely warm or your party is outdoors in the heat, you should probably discard of the dip after 2 hours.

YOU CAN MAKE IT IN ADVANCE...

Make ahead dips can be a serious life-saver when it comes to entertaining. This Dill Dip can be made up to 2-3 days in advance and will still taste fresh when served! To do so, follow the recipe as instructed, cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Homemade Dill Dip has a total shelf life of 4 days and should not be frozen to preserve any longer.

GOT LEFTOVERS? MAKE CREAMY DILL SAUCE!

If you're looking for something to do with your Dill Dip (other than dip things), consider turning into a sauce! You can easily change the consistency of your Dill Dip, and convert it into a sauce or dressing.

To do this, simply add a tablespoon of milk or water to the dressing one at a time, whisking after each addition, until it has reached the desired consistency. You can use dill sauce or dressing on salads, over salmon, crab cakes, or even chicken!

The last time I served this dip was at a potluck party. I brought it to a friends house, dropped it in the kitchen and stepped out in the living room to mingle. By the time I made my way back into the kitchen, there was a group of women hovering over the Dill Dip, asking me what it was, how I made it, and when they could get the recipe. It's seriously that good!

You cannot go wrong serving this flavorful, creamy Dill Dip at your next party. After all, a 5-minute party dip that pleases the entire crowd and sends raving reviews your way is pret-ty tough to beat. Please, enjoy!

I made something similar yesterday using yoghurt, but sour cream and mayonnaise sound delicious too!
